To the contrary, the City is not trying to take away anyone’s pension or reduce benefits for those nearing retirement. Did you know that the Police and Fire pension allow some to retire at 90% of what they earned yearly when they worked?

Reports state that HPD’s deferential response team raided the business after receiving complaints from neighbors. They found two weapons (one of which was a 12-gauge shot gun) and more than 1,000 prescription pills.Additionally, they were running a gambling shack. On the day they were busted, undercover cops observed high-stakes gambling going on inside a shed in the back. I truly wonder who came up with this birdbrain idea. I know it could not have been solely the owner, because he looked to be about my age perhaps slightly older. Then too, I could be wrong. Nothing surprises me anymore.

It is also beneficial for the child to see more gender equality, if, for example, dad is home helping with more of the domestic duties, Dr. Breland-Noble says.

We need to talk about this population more often and come up with solutions to help them secure employment. The reality is that more and more people with criminal histories are trying to enter the work force but failed background checks keep thousands of people from getting hired, some for offenses that are decades old and as minor as disorderly conduct, drinking and having too much fun in the street with friends. Some of those being denied work have never been convicted of a crime, only arrested.

A Prayer for Texas Politics

I said a prayer for Texas because Texas has lost its way. In the prayer I thanked my creator for sending champions that are fighting day in and out to prevent regressive public policies from driving our state into more of a hole. Combating the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in the African-American Community

As a community, we should do our part to educate ourselves. Where we complicate things is not learning and not practicing safety. We must protect ourselves because statistically, Black men and women are found to be having unprotected sex with others who have HIV/AIDS or other STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), and/or are sharing drug needles with someone who does.

Trump styles himself a modern-day beacon of racial sensitivity, often discussing the importance of the civil-rights movement. In his 2000 political manifesto, “The America That We Deserve,” Trump outlined his dream of an America unencumbered by “racism, discrimination against women, or discrimination against people based on sexual orientation.” He once donated office space to Jackson’s civil rights group, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, he likes to pal around with African-American celebrities such as P. Diddy and Lenny Kravitz and he once hosted an NAACP convention party.
