Humphrey is part of the inaugural class of Forty Acres Scholars. The scholarship program, administered by the Texas Exes Scholarship Foundation, will be the largest four-year merit-based scholarship program and the first of its kind on The University of Texas at Austin campus.
Humphrey will graduate with honors from Clear Creek High School in June and was accepted to The University of Texas at Austin for fall. She is an AP Scholar, National Achievement Scholar, four-year Superintendent Scholar and candidate for the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program.
Humphrey has been active in many organizations while at Clear Creek. She has been a member of the chamber orchestra for the last four years and served as the junior class representative for orchestra. As a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, she helped co-found the Creek2Creek Program to let members of the society tutor intermediate school students in Spanish classes. During the summer of 2009, she was invited to the Harvard University Secondary Summer School Program in Cambridge, MA, a prestigious program, where she attended college level courses in pre-calculus and expository writing to receive college credits.
Committed to community service, Humphrey has been a member of the Jack and Jill of America Association since she was six-years old. As a teen member, she led a five-member team to renovate a park used by the Mercy Park Association of Galveston.
This past year, she was elected president of the Bay Area/Clear Lake Chapter of the organization. She has also participated in a neighborhood library reading program, working with children to help them gain confidence in their ability to read.
As a Forty Acres Scholar, Humphrey will receive a comprehensive financial package, covering tuition, fees, books and living expenses. The package also includes priority housing in honors residence halls and funding for summer programs such as study abroad, service learning and internships.
