As a community, we should do our part to educate ourselves. Where we complicate things is not learning and not practicing safety. We must protect ourselves because statistically, Black men and women are found to be having unprotected sex with others who have HIV/AIDS or other STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), and/or are sharing drug needles with someone who does.

No one cares that this family has no home. No one seems to care about what will happen if this child grows up without the only woman on earth wired to love him unconditionally. No one seems to care about the massive costs to the state of prosecuting this mother and eventually the child, as we deliberately trap them in an intergenerational cycle of poverty and criminal justice.

What is causing this decline in successful African-American marriages? According to an article posted on divorce360.com, entitled “African-Americans are Less Likely to Marry and More Likely to Divorce,” a study conducted resulted in 32 percent of African-American couples divorced compared to White couples at 21 percent and 22 percent for Hispanics.

Many ex-cons are just looking for a second chance at life
The biggest problem they face is being unemployed. Depending on what crime they have committed, many employers turn a side-eye to ex-convicts. No doubt this causes ex-cons to return to the life that got them placed in the Criminal Justice system in the first place. Just as you have some that get out immediately and become repeat offenders, you have some ex-cons who are just trying to right their wrongs.

The iconic woman known far and wide as “Doll,” came to life on Oct. 12, 1937 in the small town of Kenney, Texas. She was born to a railroad man by the name of Dee Jones and his wife Alberta, who was much more than the term domestic, used to describe her line of work. Bertha Mae was the only girl among three boys, Clarence (C.D.), Lloyd Allen and Ronnie Lee. Two cousins, Curtis Evans and Wayne Buster were also reared as brothers.

Michael M. Malonson was born on Sept. 14, 1962 to Celestine and Joseph Andrew Malonson in Houston, Texas. He was the eighth of nine children.
From the beginning he was raised in a loving household by John Curley and Ida Lorraine Malonson. Michael grew strong as a child of St. Monica’s Catholic Church where he received all of his sacraments.
