HOUSTON-The Black Heritage Society is pleased to announce the upcoming Dedication of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monument on May 24 2014 at 11 a.m.
The historic unveiling of the MLK Memorial Plaza and Statue in his likeness will take place at MacGregor Park 5225 Calhoun Rd. It is free and all are encouraged to attend from all over the Greater Houston area.
“The community is excited about this historic event,” said Ovide Duncantell, founder of the Black Heritage Society. “The memorial plaza and statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be astonishing; while providing a historic destination point for the City of Houston and the historic 18th Congressional District.”
The statue and memorial will be a one of a kind that pays tribute to the life of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and is the largest installation of its kind in the State of Texas and in the ‘Deep South’.
Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee welcomes this event to the 18th Congressional District, which has great history with Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Jackson-Lee said it as a gift to the entire city and state and to the nation.
