HOUSTON (July 21, 2016) – As job growth continues at a staggering pace in the healthcare industry, Lone Star College-North Harris is positioned to prepare students to meet the growing demands of the industry.
With new hospitals and medical facilities springing up all over Houston, including The Methodist Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands and CHI St. Luke’s Health-Springwoods Village Hospital in Spring, now is a great time to begin a career in the healthcare industry.
“One of the advantages of studying at LSC-North Harris is that students can receive a first-rate curriculum and train in close proximity to some of the largest providers of healthcare services,” said Dr. Bill Drees, dean of instruction for Health and Human Services at LSC-North Harris. “The LSC-Health Professions Building, located on Red Oak in Houston, is strategically located next to the Houston Northwest Medical Center, making it convenient for students to combine clinical experience with our coursework.”
Not only does LSC-North Harris offer courses towards an Associate of Applied Science degree, but it also offers certificate programs for students who want to quickly enter the workforce. Some certificate courses are non-credit and are designed to be completed in as little as eight weeks.
To help prospective students interested in the healthcare field, the Continuing Education Department at LSC-North Harris will host an information session for several of its non-credit healthcare programs including Nurse’s Aide (CNA), Electrocardiography (EKG), Phlebotomy, Personal Training and Patient Care Technicians on Thursday, August 4 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Each session will be approximately two hours. The sessions will be held at LSC-North Harris, 2700 W.W. Thorne Drive, Houston, TX 77073 in the Community Education Building (CMED), room 207.
