TSU Host Step-off Competition
Head over to the campus of Texas Southern University. It's the battleground for the highly competitive Sprite Step Off. This dynamic form of self-expression showcases the richness and creativity of Greek letter organizations Step Teams. Only one sorority and one fraternity champion from each region , will make it into the stellar field of the top 12 step teams.
These spirited competitions have been primarily performed on Historical Black Colleges and Universities for years and now they are finally breaking into primetime.
The regional winners of the Step Off compete for scholarships and prizes totaling over $1.5 million. The final showdown will be held in Atlanta, GA.
The 9th Annual Trinity Jazz Festival
January 29-31, 2010 world-renown saxophonist Kirk Whalum and other notable Jazz musicians will take the stage at historic Trinity Church in Midtown Houston. The 9th Annual Trinity Jazz Festival will feature some unique activities for festival goers.
The festival includes a free Master Class/Clinic and a Jazz Mass. The Trinity Jazz Mass performers incldue Matt Lemmler, Jason Marsalis, Roland Guerin, Kim Prevost, Kellye Gray, Herlin Riley, and the Trinity Choir.
