Obama's Weird Idea of Auto Industry Rescue: Use Our Money to Build Car Factories Abroad By William Greider, The Nation. Posted May 11, 2009. Can someone explain how outsourcing the auto industry is in our national interest? Click Here . The "gist" of this article is that Obama has a funny way of showing how much he loves America by exporting auto jobs. Let's piece this one together: Never mind that the auto industry was flaking years before he got in office. Never mind that for the past 30 years, people have preferred foreign autos because they run better and get better gas mileage--they just perform better than American cars, period. Never mind that darn near all the parts in American built cars are FOREIGN anyway. Fitting a square peg in a round hole is how most American cars are made and that causes them not to function as well. We got lazy and started producing inferior car products and then started importing parts: All Ford on the outside, all Toyota on the inside...yet now that the Auto Industry is ditching, thank you George Bush, Obama thinks they should have it? What the hell do they find "weird" about that: They build all of the internal car parts abroad, why not the frame and chassis, too? That's about all America had left, anyway; after the Republicans started importing GM/Ford/Chrsyler jobs overseas in exchange for cheap labor. |
