In 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a sermon entitled "The Drum Major Instinct" that is highly relevant to the state of the African American forty years later in which the roots to the social, political, and economic ailments are diagnosed and resolved with a perscription for true greatness that everyone can attain.

This article is a response to a magazine cover with the image of Martin Luther King Jr. and Barack Omaba and a statement that said the dream fulfilled as if it implies that the quest for African American progress is over. Citations are made from Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech I have a dream in order to illustrate that the dream is about legal, economic, and ideological equality.
