My name is Chrishonica Ukadike-Andrus; I was born October 10, 1970 in Houston, Texas to the parents of Cornelius and Retha Andrus Sir. I’m the third child of five children and a twin. At the age of three I attended Rose Red Kindergarten and from there I went on to Osborn Elementary. After finishing fifth grade, my brother and I moved out of our parent’s house, and went to live with our older sister. After attending Wunderlich Intermediate for one year my parents loved the Klein School District. So one year turned into Klein Intermediate for two years and graduation from Klein Forest High School. I attended North Harris Community College and had my first child while in college. For two semesters I went to class until it became too difficult to be a full time mom, go to school, and work a full time job. I told myself that I would go back to school when my daughter got older. Who knew it would be two children and eleven years later before I would go back to college. I went to Alief Community College for three semesters. In making the choice to go back to school to better my life for my family, I had to leave my son at the age of two with my parents. My dream was to become a Child Psychology major and open my own practice in the Medicate Center. But that all changed when there were two new additions to my family. I had my daughter now four and my last boy who is 12 months old. At the age of 22 I began to write poems and short stories. I have started writing four books and working on a made for TV movie about my family. I enjoy writing poems and just being able to put your feeling down on paper. Writing is a time for you to be free and express yourself.
