HOUSTON- The city’s own Jesse Muhammad, affectionately known as Brother Jesse, won three 2009 Annual Black Weblog Awards. Based on a popular vote, his blog won “Blog of the Year,” “Best Personal Blog” and “Best Twitter Microblog.” “I am truly humbled by the overwhelming support from my readers and the public. I dedicate these awards to them,” says Muhammad.
“The mission of my blog is to inspire people to overcome mediocrity and take action. This honor is truly a testament to that. Our best work is yet to come,” says Muhammad.
His award-winning site, Brother Jesse Blog, has developed a diverse readership for its consistent content, unique perspectives on current events, overlooked information and inspirational posts that relate to the everyday issues faced by its readers. Muhammad decided to celebrate his victory by going on a search for the true identity of his biological father. Since announcing his intentions, it has struck a nerve with many people who have desired to take the same step and have been following this blog series from day one.
“My mother shared with me that she was between relationships when she got pregnant with me so she’s not sure who the father is,” said Muhammad, 31.
