HOUSTON- Reliant Energy and NRG Texas held a Back to School Supply Drive benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston last month at the John and Cissy Havard Boys & Girls Club, 1520 Airline Drive. Youth from club received school supplies donated by Reliant Energy and NRG Texas employees during the Reliant Energy and NRG Texas Back to School Supply Drive. The drive benefited youth who otherwise might not have adequate classroom supplies for the school year.
Supplies will also be distributed to youth at nine Boys & Girls Clubs locations in Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris and Waller Counties. Boys & Girls Clubs of America had its beginnings in 1860 with several women in Hartford, Conn. Believing that boys who roamed the streets should have a positive alternative, they organized the first Club. A cause was born. The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. A Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, hope and opportunity.
