HOUSTON- Annette and Alsie Cluff established the Varnett School in an effort to provide a hands-on, quality education program for their son in 1984. Today, the Varnett School  boasts one of the highest student populations for an elementary charter school in Houston. Serving students in grade levels Pre-K through fifth, the school provides a strong basis in traditional academics, and instill in its students an awareness of and appreciation for the diversity among people living in one of the most international cities in America.

The Varnett School now has three campuses: Southwest Campus, 5025 South Willow, Annette Cluff, director; East Campus, 804A Maxey Road, Twilet Alexander, director; and the Northeast Campus, 8305 Mesa Road, Dora J. Morrow, director. The School is accredited by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and provides traditional academic program with emphasis on math and reading, tuition free.
