DALLAS- Prairie View A&M University’s Cheerleaders traveled to Southern Methodist University in Dallas for the 2009 National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Cheerleading Camp, held annually. During this three-day camp, PVAMU’s talented cheerleaders won numerous awards such as the highest award given at the summer camp, the Spirit Megaphone award; the 3rd place overall in the rally routine; the 3rd superior blue ribbon; a spirit stick and a silver paid bid to NCA Nationals in Daytona, Florida. The Natioals will be held April 7-11, 2010.
The PVAMU squad consists of 20 members: Tiffany Ward, Dalecia Bell, Renecia Ross, Marquiet Henderson, Taylor Mims, Tara Williams, Deidre Mathis, Tiesha Seabrook, Elektra Smith, Shakilah Nobles, Draymon Austin, Christopher Follie, Terry Barton, Zachary Taylor, Sean Watson, Tyler Garret, Jacobe Jackson, Horace Gore, LaTroy Roberts-Lizcano and Jeremy Bevil. The squad was coached by Head Cheer Coach Jim Price, who was assisted by PVAMU Dance Instructor Danyale Taylor. Taylor received her first certification by The American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) while Coach Price received a New National Safety Certification.
