International Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Crowns Elizabeth Gardner

Elizabeth Gardner Prairie View A&M- Prairie View A&M University student Elizabeth Gardner of Missouri City, Texas, was crowned the 2009-11 Miss International Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., last month, during the Fraternity’s 95th anniversary national conference. Gardner, a junior mass communications major, will hold the title for two years. She successfully competed in the pageant competition, which included a private interview, swimsuit and talent portion.
The 2009 pageant was held at the New Orleans Hilton Hotel. As Miss International Phi Beta Sigma, Gardner will receive a $2,000 scholarship as well as the opportunity to represent the organization at various events as the official female representative of the fraternity. On the night she was crowned, Gardner stated, “I cannot express the amount of happiness I feel right now to be the new International Queen of Phi Beta Sigma—my father’s fraternity.”
She continued to express her gratitude to her family, friends, PVAMU’s University College, as well as the Delta Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., which is located on the PVAMU campus. Gardner is no newcomer to the pageant realm with previous wins as the 2006-07 Miss PVAMU University College competition winner, the 2008-09 Miss Lady of the Dove (Phi Beta Sigma) winner and as a participant in the 2009 Miss PVAMU Pageant.
