HISD’s Reach Out to Dropouts Volunteers Needed

HOUSTON- HISD is looking for enthusiastic volunteers ready to help get dropouts back into school by participating in the sixth annual “Reach Out to Dropouts” Walk on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Last year, more than 1400 volunteers made direct contact with 1053 students or parents about getting dropouts back into class right away. The day of the walk, 98 dropouts re-enrolled.
Interested volunteers must sign up for a training session taking place on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at the HISD Hattie Mae Educational Support Center, 4400 West 18th Street. Sign up online at HISD’s Web site, www.houstonisd.org. The Reach Out to Dropouts Walk is part of “Expectation: GRADUATION.”
