If you've ever been around serious risk-takers, you've probably hear about the gambling game, Russian Roulette. With one bullet and one spin of the chamber, one is willing to bet on living or dying. We face a similar predicament on the roadways of Harris County on a daily basis with the increase in DWI drivers and TWD drivers. The DWI drivers are often repeat offenders. These drivers continuosly consume excessive amounts of alcohol and decide to get behind the wheel. TWD drivers are the increasingly large number of young drivers, who choose to drive and text on the phone at the same time. Because of both types of drivers many innocent individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds are injured or killed. There must be more punitive means to hold these reckless renegades accountable for their actions. I love my family and friends, and would not like to lose not one of them to the reckless actions of one of these impaired drivers. This is a huge public safety issue that must be addressed.

Russian Roulette on the Road: DWI v TWD

DWI v TWD:  These two activities, performed by reckless and selfish individuals, are costing innocent individuals in many ways.  It is costing huge medical bills from injuries, irreversible and crippling injuries, innocent lives, and so much more.  Something must be done to address the damage and suffering caused by these types of individuals, who choose to partake in these risky behaviors.  DWI drivers are choosing to drink and drive in their condition.  TWD drivers are choosing to drive and text, often with no hands on the steering wheel.  There must be stronger measures in place to let these type of risk-takers know that there is a level of accountability that they are being held to.  Too many innocent individuals are suffering because of the actions of these renegades.  Their next victim might be eating, sleeping, laughing, or talking to you right now.
