Pastor George Burrell HOUSTON- The Fourth Annual “Young Men of Valor” Conference will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009. Registration is free and breakfast will be served at 8:30 am. The conference begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m.
The event will be held at the Blue Triangle Community Center, 3005 McGowen Street in Third Ward, Houston, Texas. Pastor George E. Burrell, Sr. of Internal Hope Fellowship Church stated, “My motivation for such an event is because of the many serious issues that our teen boys and young men face in today’s society. Unless we provide alternatives that help our younger generation, the shocking reports we view on the news and statistics that predict unfavorable outcomes for the future may certainly come to past.”
Young Men of Valor is a one-day event to bring together teen boys and young adult men in Houston and surrounding areas, from different walks of life to give answers and to impart biblical truths with regard to many pertinent issues that they face today. The program format includes locally gifted teachers, musicians, food, and group interactions.
At least 100 teen boys and young adult men have attended since the first conference and it is is continuing to grow.
Burrell continued, “In my work as assistant director of chaplains at the Harris County jail I have counseled and shared with hundreds of young men for over 27 years who have expressed the desire to have known someone who could have been a positive mentor in their lives to share biblical truths as well as be a father-like figure to them. My goal is to provide an opportunity to help fill that loud cry which is being sounded across America and the world.”
