HOUSTON– Last year, on July 22, Houston rap artist, Trae Tha Truth, was honored by his city with the reading of a Proclamation declaring that date, “Trae Day.” This year citizens and fans gathered to honor him for his selfless work throughout Houston. The day included a great roster of family activities with live performances, train rides, pony rides, face painting and moonwalks and offered HIV/STD testing.
School supplies were also given while attended by some 15,000 people. After the successful event, gun shots marred the spirit of unity. Up to eight people, including a senior citizen may have been injured by the gunfire, although the exact number of victims could not be assessed as of press time. Trae has expressed his concern for the victims’ families and will continue to reach out to the community and be a positive artist.
