HOUSTON- The Platinum Adults Social Club (P.A.S.C) a group of feisty seniors citizens, who refuse to let grass grow under their feet, celebrated the 70th birthday of Jesse Simon and the 71st birthday of Clara Malveaux at the House of Blues Restaurant, 1204 Caroline Street, in Downtown Houston.
The joyful day began for the P.A.S.C early morning when about 30 members were picked up by one of El Franco Lee’s, County Commissioner Precinct 1 buses at The Malveaux Club House.
The group was taken on a tour of Downtown Houston which included the The Theater District, Eleanor Tensely Park, The Toyota Center, Minute Made Park and The Aquarium Amusement Center.
The group realized that this old town is changing right before their very eyes. Houston is the fourth largest City in the United States and the largest City in the State of Texas. As of 2007 U.S Census estimated the city has a population of 2.2 million within an area of 600 square miles. The birthday entourage of seniors really enjoyed the tour and most can remember when the city buses were orange in color and the Houston was a “proverbial” one-horse town.

I will be moving to Houston not only to retire, but also to re-invent myself in Afro-american culture and events.
Currently live in Seattle, and look forward to participating in activities that "celebrate" the difference! |
