HOUSTON- Houston’s largest school supply drive, the fifth annual YMCA Operation Backpack, is kicking off early this year to help more than 35,000 Houston area children start the school year off right.
YMCA Operation Backpack began July 11, 2009 and will run through August 16, 2009. HISD, YMCA officials and community partners will kick off the school supply drive at a news conference on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at J.P. Henderson Elementary (1800 Dismuke, 77023).
