Community March Scheduled to Save Thurgood Marshall High School

MISSOURI CITY- Together We Stand Christian Church, 1430 Texas Parkway, has scheduled a march for Thurgood Marshall High School Electronic Engineering Academy. The church and members of the community, parents and students have opposed Fort Bend Independent School District’s plans to move Thurgood Marshall High School’s Engineering Academy from the district’s east side.
The community march will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 8 a.m. at Together We Stand Christian Church.
Several public officials and local community leaders are expected to join protestors for the march such as U.S. Congressman Al Green, State Senator Rodney Ellis, State Representative Dora Olivio and Ron Reynolds, president of the Missouri City Chapter of the NAACP.
Marchers are also encouraged to wear black and gold during the march reflecting the school’s colors.
