McGee Chapel Graduating Seniors to Celebrate 8th Annual Banquet

HOUSTON- After eight years and $50,000 in scholarships awarded, McGee Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is gearing up once again for a new benefit honoring the class of 2008-2009 graduates at the 8th Annual Banquet hosted by McGee Chapel’s Scholarship Committee.
“Our youth need our support and encouragement to continue their education so that they can build a better and stronger foundation for their lives to get ahead in this world today,” Pastor Walter K. Berry, Sr.
Each year, guest speakers are invited to address and uplift the graduating class before the new high school graduates move on to new challenges in their lives. The annual banquet not only benefits graduating seniors, but also younger children, who get a first-hand look at what it’s like to earn accolades and encouragement for the achievement of finishing high school with greater goals ahead.
The 8th Annual Banquet will be held at the Hilton Houston Westchase & Towers Hotel, 9999 Westheimer Blvd. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 7 p.m. The silent auction will begin at 6 p.m.
