Councilmember James Carter announces 19th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration

James Carter NEW ORLEANS- City Councilman James Carter, New Orleans District C District “C” Councilmember James Carter announces the 19th annual Juneteenth Freedom Celebration, featuring four days of events commemorating Emancipation Day. Emancipation Day refers to the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the State of Texas on June 19, 1865. The Juneteenth Celebration will include a parade, live music, a fashion show, a documentary film screening, and much more. All events are free and open to the public.
Councilmember Carter said, “The Juneteenth Celebration is an opportunity for all members of the community to celebrate Emancipation Day. There is something for everyone to enjoy - food, live music, art and educational opportunities to learn more about the importance of this day in America’s history.”
