Run!” – a 5 k June 20, 2009 at
The race is a fund raiser for the non-profit’s after school program that
engages 7th and 8th grade at-risk girls program will
build self-esteem by promoting physical, mental and emotional health. Baby Girl
Inc.’s After School is scheduled to debut in the Alief District this fall. The
group is expecting the Olympic Bronze Medalist Dennis Darling to participate in
the race as well as more than one hundred runners.
The after school program is our primary
focus this year. We are working in the Alief school district offering a 5
section course: Abstinence – “WAIT” Training, Life Skills, Study Skills,
Relationship Education, All About You – Your Body Owners Manual
(Interior/Exterior), which includes yoga. These courses are designed to teach
pubescent girls how to: understand their body/hormonal changes, manage stress
and conflict as well as how to set, plan and execute goals resulting in a
healthy, productive and satisfying life.
