HOUSTON- Houston’s Real Men Cook is the leading urban Father’s Day experience that is rolled into the Houston Juneteenth Health Festival. The event kicks off Real Men Cook’s leadership for the past 10 years in Men’s Health Month activities by taking place on Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 12 noon- 7 p.m., at Houston’s Discovery Green Park. The park is located across Avenida de las Americas from the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hilton Americas Hotel. Admission is $10 at the door, and free for children 10 and under.
Real Men Cook is a food tasting family celebration featuring men volunteering to cook for and serve the community. Cooking demos by local and visiting chefs with an emphasis on healthy foods cooking expands the Real Men Charities, Inc. United Health  Group Health & Wellness Pavilion. This culinary showcase also features  exhibits demonstrating the latest trends in the natural foods industry and is complimented by the always popular TASTE-A-THON.
Real Men Cook is presented by Real Men Cook Charities, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Chicago, which is on a national crusade to positively change the way the world views men in relationship to their families and the community and to transform how Father’s Day is celebrated. Now in its 20th year, Real Men Cook has become a tradition as the largest and longest-running national Father’s Day celebration of its kind. Houston is one of 11 cities on the national Real Men Cook tour. Real men of Houston (who can cook!) are encouraged to register for Houston’s Real Men Cook Competition. Everyday fathers and men in our community our invited to throw down their favorite food items and be judged by our panel of celebrity judges.
