Juneteenth is one of the most important moments in African American history, and yet, in many Black communities it is as obscure as a strange hand reaching out from the darkness. Sadly, like most of historicity and significant moments in African American history, it too has become so marginalized that it poses as a sideshow for the ‘real’ American celebrations. The events are scarce and scattered.
One has to search and search just to find a Juneteenth celebration in cities that are home to thousands of African American people.
