DALLAS- Organized in 1876 in a “shot gun” house on Peak Alley in what is now the Dallas Arts District, St. John Missionary Baptist Church has a long and storied history. The public is invited to celebrate with the officers and members of the church at four 133rd Anniversary Celebratory worship services and a Fellowship Reception.
 The worship services include: Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:45 a.m. with Rev. George W. Gregory, Jr., Pastor of First Fellowship Baptist Church of Dallas as guest minister and at 7:30 p.m. with Dr. Craig E. White, Sr., Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church of Christ of Dallas as guest minister.  On Sunday, June 7, 2009 at 11: a.m. the guest speaker will be Rev. Herbert Stroman, pastor of Christian Hope Baptist Church of Houston, TX and at 7:30 p.m., the celebration will culminate with Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III, senior pastor of Friendship West Baptist Church of Dallas as guest minister.  At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2009, a Fellowship Reception will be held in the Family Life Center at the church.  The church is located at 2600 South Marsalis Avenue, Dallas, TX 75216.
St. John Missionary Baptist Church has been led by nine nationally acclaimed pastors with the longest tenured including: Dr. E.C. Estell, Sr., Rev. Robert H. Wilson, and Dr. Manuel L. Scott, Sr.  The church is known for its historical contributions in the leadership of national Baptist organizations and its service to the community.  Known as “The Church That Cares,” an objective for this shared celebratory experience is that worship, fellowship, ministry, discipleship and evangelism will be strengthened.
