Free Legal Advice and Counsel Clinic Regarding Homeowner’s And Property Tax Rights

HOUSTON- On Saturday May 30, 2009, Lawyers from the Houston Lawyers Association, Hispanic Bar Association of Houston, NAACP Legal Redress and the Earl Carl Institute of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law along with representatives from Houston ACORN, Judges, Lawyers and Property Tax Consultants will meet from 9a.m.-2pm to conduct workshops that will help homeowners understand their rights.
At the end of the day attendees will: Understand the nature of Property Taxes and Property Tax Exemption and the effect on elderly and low-income property owners; understand the process that goes on in a Property tax Law Suit and the rights of the defendant; learn ways to prevent foreclosure; about the many agencies that can assist homeowners who are having property tax & foreclosure issues; understand Modification Agreements; how to better manage inherited property; learn how to better pass-on property to beneficiaries; and learn how to avoid foreclosure scams.
