Students awarded scholarships at Superintendent’s reception

DALLAS- Sixty-two high school seniors received scholarships at the Superintendent’s Scholarship Reception. Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa presented each student with a $2,000 scholarship toward their college education. The scholarships are given to students in recognition of their outstanding character, community service, and academic achievement. The scholarships are funded by proceeds from the annual Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Classic.
Aileen Mokuria, of Skyline High School, and Tarcila Michelle Castillo, of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, the top two students among the scholarship recipients, received an additional $1,000 as awardees of the Joe May and Rev. Amado S. Hinojosa Scholarships, respectively.
