HOUSTON- DJ Southern BellE: The Vinyl Princess isn’t just another pretty face with a small frame. There’s something different about this “southern belle” in which she’s been blessed with the genes of being musically inclined on both sides of her family. DJ Southern BellE has her sights set on growing into the next mogul in the entertainment business, and although her passion for music stems from a long family history of musicians and producers, it’s her work ethnic, combined with her business mind that makes her more than just a DJ.

When she steps to the turntable, it often raises eyebrows, and has people wondering, “If she’s not a model, then what is she?” Growing up as a PK (Preacher’s Kid), didn’t stop her from fulfilling her dreams and striving for excellence. After gaining a mini-fan base from the grind, sweat, and tears, for the first time in five years, Southern BellE earned four 2009 S.E.A. Award (Southern Entertainment Awards) Nominations last March in Tunica, Mississippi in the categories of: Female DJ OTY (Of The Year), Mixtape Rookie OTY, Best Host & Best Intro.
Born in Texas, she always knew that she was put here on earth to make a change, but just didn’t really know what. She knew her father was a former bass guitarist and singer, while on the other hand her mother is a vocal coach/pianist/organist/singer. Of course like most children, as she grew up, she tried this and that while finding herself and discovering what fit her. But in this case, becoming a female DJ was something different. Her favorite pastime is going to the city of Brenham (Texas), listening to her uncle “Cheese” (who is now a Dallas resident; Cherish “Do It To It”, “Killa”; Yung Joc’s “Coffee Shop”; Jagged Edge’s “Good Luck Charm”, Bow Wow & Omarion’s “Girlfriend”) create beats behind closed doors. While standing there, watching and learning, she would create the needle scratch effects in her head, which developed a way for her to get into the music field.
World Famous DJ Cut Creator (LL Cool J’s long time DJ), mentored and molded her into the DJing game. Other influences included the likes of Jazzy Joyce, Spinderella, Kool Herc, and Jam Master Jay. DJ Southern BellE strives to continue to expand her creativeness and uniquely sounds, by networking and promoting herself, as well as the underground and independent artists. Interning at KCOH 1430 AM and TheBeat713.com helped her get the hands on training and experience which has given her the opportunity for developing an upcoming underground station in Houston.
In addition, she hosts a syndicated TV Show “The Bigg Mann’s Show”, and she would like to have a satellite show based in Houston.
