Huston Tilotson launches Black History Month activities

Rev. Valarie Bridgeman AUSTIN- Rev. Valerie J. Bridgeman will speak on the topic, “Hip-Hop and the Preacher: A Cultural Reading of the Book of Ecclesiastes.” Bridgeman is the associate professor of Hebrew Bible/Homiletics and Worship, Lancaster Seminary, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She previously taught at HT. The third Annual Bishop E.T. Dixon Lecture will be held Jan. 28, in the Agard-Lovinggood Auditorium, 900 Chicon Street from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
On Feb. 26, the university will host its African American Heritage Festival. The event will kick off at 4 p.m. The Homecoming Gospel Choir will be the featured performance.
The Black history month events are free and open to the public. Huston-Tillotson University is an accredited, four-year, historically black college with a mission to educate, develop and direct students of any social, economic, spiritual, or racial background.
