The Harris County Historical Commission dedicated the Official Texas Historical Marker to the Acres Homes Community earlier this month. The program was held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, the oldest church in the community where Pastor Dr. Edwin A. Davis, officiated the program.

Mrs. Marine Jones, Aldine ISD School Board, welcomed the community and Mrs. Jewel Simpson Houston Committee, placed emphasis on this memorable occasion. James Ford, Harris County Historical Commission, gave an official greeting and proclamations & resolutions were read by the offices of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Senator John Whitmire.

Sheriff Adrian Garcia gave congratulatory remarks for the community and several other representatives from the city of Houston also gave remarks. The grand march to the unveiling site, 7600 W. Montgomery Road @ West Little York Rd. was a sight to remember.

Patrick Van Pelt presented the Marker and Mrs. Debra Blacklock-Sloan, Harris County Historical Commission and others unveiled the marker. The Acres Home community including Eisenhower Mighty Eagle Band, Carver Drama Club, Reece Academy, churches, Knights of Peter of Claver, Unique Accessory Depot, and others joined in the festivities and celebrated the dedication of the historical marker for the Acres Homes Community.
