The Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Area Chapter of the American Red Cross named Justice George C. Hanks, Jr, Chairman of the Greater Houston Area Red Cross. This is a volunteer position. Judge Hanks has served as a board member for eight years.

Justice George C. Hanks, Jr., a native of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is a Justice of the Court, Texas First Court of Appeals. 
Justice Hanks serves on the Texas Judicial Panel for Multi-District Litigation and is a member of the State Bar Committee on Pattern Jury Charges. Justice Hanks currently serves on the board of directors for the Texas Center for the Judiciary.

Justice Hanks is admitted to the Texas and District of Columbia bars and is currently a member of the American Judges Association, National Bar Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Federal Bar Association, the Customs and International Trade Bar Association, the Houston Lawyers Association, and the Houston Bar Association. He is a former special disciplinary counsel for the Texas State Bar Commission for Lawyer Discipline and a former chairman and member of the District 4F State Bar Grievance Committee in Houston.

The Greater Houston Area Red Cross also has three new Board members: Ben Mendez, President at PMG Project management, LLC; Michele J. Sabino, Ed.d., Executive Directer of University Advancement at UH-Downtown and Houston attorney Carlette Moore.
