New York, NY- The Black community is not equipped to effectively deal with the issue of violence without some strong leadership from within the community. This void of community leadership, according to Malik Green, author of “The Black-Print – Black America’s Blueprint for Achieving Wealth, Prosperity and Respect” and founder of Going-Beyond-The-Dream.org, “has been the most significant reason for the perpetual violence in the African-American community. The African-American community is in desperate need of strong, fearless and intelligent leadership. African-American mothers and fathers are shedding rivers of tears because they are losing their sons at an alarming rate. They deserve solutions and action ... .”
In light of the increase in Black-on-Black violence throughout the country, Green believes radical solutions are needed because whatever is being done now, is not working. Green’s book offers what he describes as “unique, radical, and empowering concepts and strategies to subdue the forces that impede the development of many African-American communities. Green has launched his grassroots organization to begin the process of organizing young African-Americans to address the challenges confronting African-American communities using the ideas offered in his book.
His organization Going-Beyond-The-Dream is looking to recruit young Black men and women to join the fight. The fight to eliminate, what he believes are the subtle, but destructive elements that contribute to the dysfunctional status of many African-American communities. Green addresses many other issues concerning the African-American community and provides some very interesting concepts and specific strategies to remedy the most serious and destructive forces that perpetuate the marginalization of African Americans and the communities they live.
To advance the discussion and debate on this matter and the blueprint as a whole, Green plans to organize and coordinate a conference to bring together all the presidents and CEOs from the major non-profit African-American organizations in America to discuss how best to coordinate and implement the initiatives of The Black-print. The Black-Print identifies five institutions or other entities that callously regard African-Americans and the communities we live in as expendable. Green said, “The book also conveys my belief that greed, the same immoral behavior that got us enslaved in the first place, is the impetus behind the lack of concern for the plight of African-Americans today. I, being a 29 year old Black man, am happy to see another Black man who has seen a problem, thought about the problem, and is doing what he can to solve the problem. I have my own thoughts about what is going on with our communities. For one, it is our lack of parenting. A good number of us are just bad parents, but thats a small minority I believe. I think most of us just cant be there like we know we should to teach them right from wrong because we are pretty much slaves to our jobs and just kind of hope and pray that our kids wont get into that kind of stuff. Of coarse thats wrong though. While we are hoping and praying (most just hoping w/o praying) these rap songs and tv shows are teaching them. Lil Wayne is teaching them, R. Kelly is teaching them, Souljah boy is teaching them. That is ok, sometimes, but with out parents or others teaching them the "right" way to do things, they just doing what feels good. I used to gangbang, got kicked out of school, all that stuff that we chastise these youngsters about now, and it was fun so that's how I know, but we have to give them something else to do. You can't just say don't gangbang then don't give them nothing else to do while you at work. Put them in some kind of activity that keeps them busy, football, boy scouts, give them a whole bunch of chores to do everyday after school. "An idol mind IS the devil's playground." And this starts as early as 5. By the way I started an after school program called The Heroes: Manhood Training & Service Club at a school in Fort Worth, TX it started with 5 (including my son) and now has 29. I want to go 501c3, and we are raising money, but we need help. Please email me if anyone has info to help with that samuel@WeAreTheHeroes.org
