HOUSTON- This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  To celebrate one century of great civic, legislative, judicial and academic achievements among all races throughout the United States, the Houston Branch of the NAACP is planning a grand affair to underscore this historic landmark. With the theme, NAACP 100 Years: Bold Dreams—Big Victories, this year’s Centennial Freedom Fund Awards Banquest will be held on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Hiltons Americas Hotel. Sharing our Vision and embracing our Mission, our Honorary Co-Chairs are the distinguished Mayor Bill and Andrea White and Harris County Judge Ed and Gwen Emmett.  NAACP National President/CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous will be joining us to celebrate this historic event as well. For more information regarding the NAACP and/or the Freedom Fund Banquest, call Yolanda Smith, NAACP Executive Director at (713)526-3389 or email at yolanda@naacphouston.org.
