AUSTIN- Don’t throw away those old pictures, or sell those family heirlooms. Take the time to take down the stories of the oldest people in your family or even the ones you know. The mission of the Texas Black History Preservation Project is to document a comprehensive history of the African American experience in Texas, through a series of books and interactive DVDs.

A long term goal of the Project is to also provide a permanent repository for that history. We feel our project will have a profound effect on education, specifically in the teaching of Black history. If you know of any Black history and have documents or objects (the more the merrier), please send them to the Texas Black History Preservation Project, 603 W. 13th St., Ste. 1A-212, Austin, TX 78701, with as much information as possible on the history that you can provide. For more information, call (512)674-5493.
