Felix Cook Personifies
Good Black Men |
|
You’ve probably heard
someone refer to someone else as a "Goodman". But what exactly is meant
by such a description of a person? In Jeremiah 5:1 God told Jeremiah to
see if he could find a Goodman. The remainder of the Fifth chapter of
Jeremiah describes God’s definition of a good man. First, a good man is
one who is careful in his dealings with others. The man whom God
considers a good man is one who is fair and honest in his dealings with
others.

MLK
Themes: War, Drugs and Education
|
|
With the MLK March Committee already preparing for
the 2006-2007 march activities and program, it stands to reason that in
order for the event to qualify as a "March," it should address three of
the most important issues of our time: the War in Iraq, drugs and thugs,
and education in the African American community. The American people
were fooled into believing that the war was about weapons of mass
destruction – this was proven to be a lie. The war was supposed to be
about the connection between Osama Bin Laden and Saddam—this was proven
false by the 911 Commission.

MARJORIE JONES
BROWN was a beautiful person, inside and out, who not only enjoyed life
to its fullest, but lived long and prospered. Thus, "I’m blessed," was
her favorite response to the salutation, "How are you?" And, indeed, she
was blessed and highly favored by God and all whose lives she so
lovingly touched during her long and productive life that was celebrated
on January 20, 2006 at Olivet MBC, 3115 Lyons Avenue, with Pastor Robert
L. Thomas Jr. officiating.

Frazier’s Last Stand |
|
As Derrick Frazier prepares for his last days on
earth, he remains a fighter focused on justice. However, the lack of
response after making a public appeals for help demonstrates the cold
heartedness of a blood thirsty justice system and the callous
indifference that many African-Americans have towards those fellow sons,
daughters, brothers and sisters waiting for the grim reaper to harvest
their souls.

Texas News |

In this don’t ask, don’t tell world that we live in these
days, perception and reality "often get twisted". The main reason things
get "twisted" for Black people in America is because we assume too much
through our mind’s eye; instead of asking questions about the "policies
and practices", of the power structure in America—that certainly will
tell a grim story about us. While we are applauding and cheering along
with "racist America" when Black people are busted for selling drugs… We
don’t know or care to know how much America’s "legalize’ Drug companies
make off of their expensive drugs.

Where
Has the Klan Gone |
|
What happened to the secret organization known as the KKK
over the years? Many have said that they have gone underground because of
the general hatred of the organization by minorities, but more importantly
by the white community and the lawsuits that have crippled its activities.
Several lawsuits have been filed over the years which have bankrupted some
Klan chapters across the US.

Black Media Group Left Lasting Legacy |
|
In the early 1970s, the Black Coalition on Mass Media
(BCMM) was formed to look at the way the media operated in San Antonio.
There was little if any black programming on the radio, or on
television. Electronic media was dominated by ultra-conservatives or
unresponsive liberals. The group’s initial membership included T.C.
Calvert, Val St. Cyr, Carlos Richardson, Fred Coy, Albert McKnight,
Claudia Grant, and many others including myself.

The
Charge Is On
To Change Black Education in Fort Worth |
|
Despite the efforts of the "Texas-Six"
representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives to turn back the
clock on voting rights and pour salt in the old civil rights wounds of
the past, Texas Republican Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison
did the right thing to vote YES with 96 other U.S. senators in support
of renewal of the Voting Rights Acts.

Everman Principal Deserves
Big Texas Boot!!! |
|
It is written … "Out of the abundance of the
heart, the mouth speaks."It is becoming increasing apparent what White
teachers and school administrators mouths are speaking loudly about what
they think of Black children. The continued mental and verbal abuse in
white controlled school districts is not only troubling, but also gives
keen insights into the desire of some to break and destroy the will of
the Black child.

KATRINAPHOBIA: The irrational persistent fear or dread of
persons displaced from New Orleans as a result of the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina. In Houston, where roughly 200,000 evacuees of Katrina
came and some 100,000 still reside katrinaphobia has raged primarily
through the institutions of white supremacy/racism including major
media, "criminal justice system", and social service systems.

Judge Anna Taylor is Black and Proud |
|
Even before I read the article
I took it for granted that the judge who ruled that it was
unconstitutional for Pres. George W. Bush’s "Big Brother"
domestic surveillance (that routinely spied on American citizens
without a warrant) was White. After all, she was shooting down
one of Team Bush’s most cherished pet projects. Consequently, I
was kinda surprised that it was Judge Anna Diggs Taylor, an
African American, who put herself in political harm’s way.
