Political figures send a message to the killer as well as to the community that these crimes will not be tolerated.

Is Serial killing (just) 'a White thing?'

"Man's psyche is obsessed with social comparisons, with a need for achievement, and with the desire to gain control over the reproductive capacities of women. In 1992 women made up roughly 22% of victims of murders. In the same year roughly 90% of the perpetrators and 78% of the victims were men. What this means is that women are more likely to be killed by a man than a woman. This trend seems to have been continuous over time and so many have come to the conclusion that this trend is tied to western culture and specifically to the fact that it has been and is male-oriented.

Shady Acres Church of Christ Celebrates 40th Anniversary

On a sunny, Sunday afternoon a "multitude" of worshippers celebrated the 40th Anniversary of The Shady Acres COC as a congregation, at the church building, 730 West 26th Street, Houston, Texas where Frank Melton Jr. has served as Minister since conception. The program consisted of (call to worship) Greg Jones and Kevin Barnes (Prayer) Greg Watson, Bryant Johnson, Herbert Henry, James Alexander and Anthony Fletcher Jr.

DAVID LLOYD RICHARD, who God blessed with the talent to make beautiful music was born during an era when African American musicians were the cornerstone of what is recorded in American History as the Harlem Renaissance, which was characterized by an overt racial pride that came to be represented in the idea of the "New Negro," who through intellect, the production of literature, art, and music could challenge the pervading racism and stereotypes from the larger white community of that era to promote progressive or socialist politics and racial integration and social integration.

Rich Chiselers Rob Poor of Medical Care
The only thing lower than "moochers" are rich, miserly chiselers who lie, cheat and rob the poor of medical care in Dallas County. But, in the words of Soul singer James Brown, Dallas Commissioner John Wiley Price clearly has declared war on fraudulent health care cheaters with the clear message, "The brother get ready!! That’s a fact!! Get ready you Mother for the big payback (the big payback!)

East Texas News
If you are a Black person and you seek to hurt other Black people, then you are no better than the Ku Klux Klan! The reason I made that statement is because Black on Black violence these days especially among our young people has escalated dramatically across America. While there are many so called experts out here who will tell you that we live in a violent world, where wars, gangs and violent people are part of our modern world, in my mind, we (Black people) can’t get caught up in this "madness" for the simple reason, we haven’t been freed from slavery, Jim Crow and mass segregation. "Enough on that."

Meet Momma Wonda Bookgee

Why? Who is that "Mask Man"? Ohh That’s the "Lone Ranger", and just who is the pretty lady in the costume… That’s Momma Wonda Bookgee a.k.a. Ms. Sherry Browning of Kids and Momma Wonda Bookgee Productions. Ms. Sherry Browning has a lot in common with the Lone Ranger. The Lone Ranger is incognito in his Lone Ranger outfit and Sherry Browning is incog-negro in her Momma Wonda Bookgee costumes.

The Hidden History of
the Buffalo Soldiers

The history of the Black Seminole "Indians" is indeed a fascinating story. The story begins in Georgia and South Carolina where the Red Seminoles lived and rebelled against the Creeks or "White Sticks, as they were known. Many of whom had accepted "white ways," and were considered "traitors" by the "Red Sticks," later to be called Seminoles. These Native Americans, after an internal civil war, fled to Florida, where they intermingled with free black Spaniards. Spain "owned" Florida during this period in the early 1800s.

Voting Right on Voting Rights

Despite the efforts of the "Texas-Six" representatives in the U.S. House of Representatives to turn back the clock on voting rights and pour salt in the old civil rights wounds of the past, Texas Republican Senators John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison did the right thing to vote YES with 96 other U.S. senators in support of renewal of the Voting Rights Acts.

Poor Leadership and Condoleezza Rice

The recent crisis in the Middle East has place the spot light on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. More importantly, grass roots African Americans are calling "Conde" Rice a total "yes woman" for the Bush Administration. Looking back, when Rice was questioned before the Senate, about the bogus reasons for going to war, Rice defended the administration’s now infamous false claims that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Many in African American community now compare Rice’s antics to that of high lord of "uncle tomism" Clarence Thomas.

PUBLISHER’S ANALYSIS
by Roy Douglas Malonson

It’s tragic that tragedy has to unite

Much like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I’ve long had a dream that someday northwest Houston, Texas’ Acres Home community, the whole village that I grew up in and dedicated my life to serving would learn to put their personal differences, and special interest agendas, so they could unite and become a "Whole Village" when it’s time to address issues impacting our wealth, health and safety. On the afternoon of July 21, 2006 I got a glimpse of how it would be if my dream came true.

AFRICAN-AMERICAN NEWS & ISSUES

LostInSpace—Although it got Lost In Space last week, a belated happy birthday is over due for Jaida Swanson, who turned six on July 2, 2006 and graduated from Young Scholars Aca-demy with honors to put icing on her cake. Jaida, the lovely and talented daughter of Carlene Johnson, who is a HarrisCounty Family Court clerk, received a Citizenship trophy and the Student of The Year award. She also received special recognition for academic achievement in Stanford 10 math and reading and for academic achievement in advanced mathematics. You go girl!....Hark! How can your momma’s birthday get Lost In Space? That’s a good question, but I can’t think of a viabble reason answer to give Mildred Dutton who lit another candle on July 20.
