REV. KRAIG PULLAM and his father, Rev. William Pullam, are sure that Kai, represents their 4th generation of preachers.

Is Black America a theocracy?

“For almost 90 percent of the time that African Americans have lived in the United States or the North American colonies, taking 1619 as a starting point and the 1964 Civil Rights Act as a culmination, they have basically constituted ‘a nation within a nation.’

Turner Remains Compassionate

State Representative Sylvester Turner is not one to allow the large issues or the little things in life to get him down. He remains a man determined and on a mission. Turner is a man in touch with his deep community roots and a genuine concern for his people and his community. Through all his successes, he has never neglected or overlooked the needs of his community. Born in Houston in 1954, the sixth of nine children, he was raised by his father, who was a commercial painter and his mother, who served as a maid at the Rice Hotel.

MERTHA DAVIS SIMMONS was born into a vastly different world from the one in which she finished her course. Even so, she was blessed to be able to adapt to that ever evolving world to best utilize the marvels of technology to make life better for those whom she served. Thus, her Prayer of Thanks appropriately began, “Thank you God for a long life, for the training received where I can help others,” and ended, “May the work I’ve done speak for me.”

Dallas Underneath the Facade

Being a slave in early Dallas and Dallas County was a harrowing experience of survival, but also a tearful legacy of sorrow.
Slaves, like those pictured front on AAN&I, lived in very hostile environments and suffered daily stress. Many were resilient despite uncertain and constantly changing conditions on plantations. The word painful is too weak to describe the horrors of being beaten, sold, abused, separated and treated less than a human.

East Texas News
Confused people trying to lead Black people from a religious position of power, has kept the masses of their followers in the dark! In my mind, in these days of hard times, corrupt law officials, crooked politicians, paid off sellouts – any Black religious leader who doesn’t at some point speak on the civil rights and human conditions of the people, “could be a phony!”

Crusader’s Sudden Death
Strikes Unity Chord between
Black and Hispanic Community Groups
The sudden death of a Dallas school board member struck an important chord that could result in improved dialog on education issues between Dallas’ Hispanic and Black groups.
“It is unfortunate, but sometimes the powers that be and the media likes to divide the community,” said Hispanic community leader Ricardo Medrano.

PUBLISHER’S ANALYSIS
by Roy Douglas Malonson

E. D. Nixon’s place in history was
overshadowed by MLK

I promised African-Ameri-canNews&Issues’ estimated 2 million readers’ unique Black History, therefore let’s meet E. D. Nixon, a self-made high school dropout, who I’m sure many grassroots community leaders that are pushed aside by Black America’s elite (once the TV cameras shows up) can identify with. I know I can. But, you can decide for yourself, whether, or not, he was wrongly “whitewashed” out of history by the mainstream media, with the approval of African American’s intelligentsia.

INSIDE & ONLINE
AFRICAN-AMERICAN NEWS & ISSUES

TwiliteZone.com— Blessed are Black History lovers, for they shall be recognized by African-AmericanNews& Issues. We truly appreciate the many living historians wont to share their literary treasures. Among those who think of the old warrior, whenever they find unusual Black History books, are Deacon Harold and Sis. Denice Jones, who introduced me to Dr. Howard Jone’s (no relations) The Red Diary. I used the PVAMU legend’s book so much until he sent us an autographed copy. This Black History Month, they gave me Jeffery C. Stewart’s 1001 Things Everyone Should Know About African American History. I recommend it for history lovers, who prefer concise reading material. Check it out @ www.valuebooks.com.
