ON: Born Crazy?

Woebeit far too many
supposedly well educate and/or enlighten “humanoids” fail to grasp
the concept of critical thinking, therefore they, for some
unfathomable reason, tend to ignore their history and keep making
the same mistakes over and over again.
That salient thought kept invading The Outer Limits of my cranial
circuits as I watched the plight of the tired huddled masses (caught
up in Hurricane Rita) on TV, from the comfort of my own address.
Naturally, since my thought process borders dangerously on the edge
of The Twilight Zone, I don’t think like ordinary folks. Thus, to
better communicate with my readers, I try to be as objective as
possible when I pontificate my Eyeview(s).
Even so, I’m often accused of ego-tripping, and/or being as crazy as
hell when I offer my “practice what you preach,” or “Just Do It”
philosophy as a solution for a myriad of problems bedeviling this
sin sick planet. Then again, I always consider the source when most
of my detractors obviously expect different results from their
efforts, although they repeatedly do what they’ve been doing the
same old way. As crazy as that sounds, ask yourself how many times
you’ve been told, “That’s the way we’ve always done it around here.”
Hey, you wouldn’t believe how many times I was chastised, or beaten
for being too hard-headed to do things like everybody else was doing
them without protest. Denial aside, you brothers and sister that had
those dumb, “Because I said so,” parents, might as well pray with
me. For sure, you’ve been there and done that.
Denial aside, since I personally know that many of your “Paw Paws”
and “Big Mommas” aren’t the sharpest knives in the draw, I suspect
that most of my more conscious brothers and sisters feel me. Stupid
is as stupid does notwithstanding, all you have to do is stop, look
and listen to some of the most brilliant people on this war torn
planet discuss the very same issues today, that were being discussed
by the most brilliant people at the dawn of civilization.
Consequently, we are still pondering the innocent question, “Can we
get along,” that was asked by Rodney King. For sure, most of you
“Over-the-Hill” gang members remember old Rodney, who was beaten out
of his allegedly drug saturated mind by the cops in 1991 Los Angles.
Ironically, I just happened to be writing this epistle when a
talking head on TV revealed that poor, old Rodney is in trouble, yet
again.
In case you didn’t catch it, be my guest (FYI: “King, 40, was
arrested Wednesday on suspicion of making criminal threats. He was
being held on $25,000 bail. He was accused of threatening to kill
his 23-year-old daughter, Candace, and her mother, Carmen Simpson,
after the two got in a fight with King's current girlfriend, Dawn
Jean. All three women live in King's home. The daughter, who called
police, said King was armed with a handgun, but it turned out to be
a toy, according to authorities.” -Los Angeles Times , Sept. 29,
2005.) Hey, the man suffered brain damage, so he has an excuse. So,
let’s not get sidetracked from where I’m trying to go with this bit
of logic. What I’m saying is, if the most elementary form of
education is trial and error, one would have to be just a little off
to not learn from experience. Wouldn’t you think?
Then why, pray tell, were all of those damn fools panicking as if
they’ve never been caught in a storm before? Incidentally, were you
one of them? Okay, okay. I hear you. It’s been several years since
the Greater Houston area got hit by a natural disaster, so you was
caught off guard. Then again, many of us have yet to fully recover
from Alicia, so it should behoove those of us who should’ve been
taught a valuable lesson to stay ready for any and everything to
avoid an emergency situation. Oh? Your emergency was more about
economics, than erroneous judgment. Hey, that game is way too weak,
because as dumb as it was to be caught up in the freeway madness, it
was even dumber to be out there broke. Fact is, some of the same
folks who panicked into an emergency mode will do exactly the same
thing the next time a life threatening disaster occurs.
Peer pressure aside, we always answered NO! when our momma’s asked,
“If some fool told you to jump off a bridge, would you follow him?”
But, alas, we repeatedly blindly follow our blind leaders into a
ditch.
Furthermore, we find our educators and parents in the same ditch
with us. Denial aside, mayhap we’re actually born crazy. For sure,
we tend to continue our self-destructive behavior, woebeit we know
better. In addition, there is a school of thought that it’s human
nature to follow the herd, or even habitually make the same mistakes
over and over. Hello crackheads and other drug addicts. I wonder if
anybody knows where I’m coming from? |
