“Congrats” Velencia Johnson
A “Graduation Galore” was
given in honor of Velencia Johnson by her parents, Victor and Marion
Thomas Johnson, at The Greer & Lowdermilk Conference Center, 4225
Interwood N. Parkway, on Saturday, June 25.
Proud father, Victor, said, “My beautiful daughter was born July 14,
1983 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She is the youngest of
two children. She has an older brother, Marcus Johnson.” |

East Texas News
With the recent
retirement of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and the
well-publicized health problems of Supreme Court Chief Justice William
H. Renquist, I think it’s time for America to have a “real” African
American on the nation’s highest court. Although current Supreme Court
justice Clarence Thomas, a Black man, sits on the Supreme Court bench,
the way Thomas votes on critical issues that affect Black people,
Mexican Americans and poor White people, would lead one the conclusion
that Clarence Thomas is a Black man who thinks like an ultra
conservative white racist from the deep South.

Texans Support the Troops
Every once in a while,
someone in Washington asks me why we Texans have so much love for our
state. Is it the food, weather or culture?
While I love the food, weather and culture in Texas, the real reason I
am so proud of our state is its people. And I have no better evidence of
the character of Texans than an episode I heard about the other day at
the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. |
