I’ve heard there were 22 million Americans suffering from mental depression. That’s a staggering number of people, even for a nation as big as America. Depression, from what I’ve heard and read, is a devastating illness with no respect for a person. I am no depression mental health expert, but a great observer of people in crisis and how they react under pressure. Celebration of a Living Legend “Jackie Bernard Carr”

On Tuesday April 26, at a regular Houston City Council Meeting, 901 Bagby Street, District B Council Member Carol Mims Galloway introduced Jackie Carr to Mayor Bill White, who gave him a proclamation for his day.
However, it was just the beginning of Carr’s celebrations. The Phillis Wheatley Class of 1948, Oscar and Joyce Moore (Chairpersons), Verlene Thompson-Edmond (Co-Chairman), Jerome Johnson (Vice President) and Lois Phelps-Allen (President) alumi hosted a “sold out” Banquet Roast and Toast in his honor, Friday April 29 at the Hilton Hobby Airport Hotel, 8181 Airport Boulevard .
