Parker charms AHCCC “Lunch Bunch” |
|
Houston’s City Controller Annise Parker’s straight up, easy manner of speaking definitely moved her up a couple of places on the “Lunch Bunch’s” short list of favorite speakers, when she addressed the Acres Home Citizens Chamber of Commerce during their Feb. 3, 2005 monthly (each first Thursday) network/meeting at the Acres Home Center for Business & Economic Development’s Beulah Ann Shepard Building, 6112 Wheatley Street.

I really and truly
believe that giving Black Americans reparations for past slavery would
not only be the right thing to do, but it would set America on a new
course of financial and racial harmony. Just think about it, we (Black
Folks) could really move forward in this society with reparations in the
form of “cold cash money”. Once we got reparations there would be no
need to blame anyone for our short comings if we fall back into poverty.
Before I go any further with this discussion, I don’t want to infuriate
readers who don’t agree with me on this one, I just have to tell it like
it is! |
