Unfortunately we’re educated to see history as something that happened long before we were born. I say this, because I remember my Aldine lSD's G. W. Carver peers asking, "Who wants to read about a bunch of old, dead people?" Denial notwithstanding, I'm sure you've heard some version of that sentiment too, because most people fail to grasp the concept of history being made with every tick of the clock.


Manager Removed in Family Dollar Beating Incident

REP. ALLEN NAMED TO INFLUENTIAL COMMITTEES

AUSTIN -- State Representative Dr. Alma A. Allen (D) District, 131 Houston was appointed on Thursday, January 27, 2005 to serve on three key committees for the 79th Legislative Session. Rep. Allen was named to the Human Services, Urban Affairs, and the Rules and Resolutions Committees. Rep. Allen said that her committee assignments allow her to work closely on issues that affect her constituents. "It is an honor and a privilege to be asked to serve on these three House Committees, and I am excited about this unique opportunity to work on issues that are about people," Allen says.
