As we watched the U. S.
Senators grill Dr. Condoleezza Rice, who has being confirmed to
succeed Gen. Colin Powell as the second African American
Secretary of State in the 229 year history of this great nation,
we couldn’t help from being Black and proud of Dr. Rice,
although we don’t agree with her politics.

Pageant Recipient. This event was held at The Alley Theatre on January
16,2005. The Acres Home Youth Association "S.I.S.T.A. Circle sponsored

Where Do We Stand?
Austin Mayor Will Wynn
announced the completion of the Austin Mental Health Task Force Final
Report on January 24, 2005. Morningside Research and Consulting, Inc. of
Austin, Texas, prepared this final report Austin Mayor Will Wynn decided
to create the Mental Health Task Force to address and plan for
improvements in the provisions of services for individuals with mental
disabilities, after a community forum was created by the Hogg Foundation
for Mental Health convened on October 15, 2003.

STATE NEWS
While the legislature recessed to allow
Republican legislators to participate in the Presidential inauguration
ceremonies, State Senator John Whitmire (D-Houston) was hard at work
advocating for the rights of motorists in Houston. Senator Whitmire,
earlier this week, warned city officials against making insensitive
remarks toward indigent motorists. |
