Vol. 9 No. 44
Nov. 3 - Nov. 9, 2004

Faith Based election Will God bless America’s president?

“The Bush White House isn't satisfied with blurring the line between church and state when it comes to policy matters. Now, the Bush re-election team wants to set up its local campaign offices in your church.... First reported in The Washington Post and The New York Times, the Bush campaign is shifting into the "hail Mary" mode with an unprecedented effort to co-opt local churches as de facto arms of its campaign.”

PUBLISHER’S ANALYSIS
by Roy Douglas Malonson

Is the Black vote a “bad act?”

As our estimated 2 million readers well know, since African American News & Issues is a weekly publication, it will be distributed (to over 5, 000 well located racks in five major Texas cities, on over 5, 000 colorful racks and delivered to 100, 000 homes in strategically selected zip codes) too late to influence the Nov. 2, 2004 elections and too early to publish the final outcome at the polls.

Black Student Unions

Black students attending predominantly white colleges and universities ought to be committed to any type of organized Black student union on their campus. These historical organizations are rooted in a nearly 30 year tradition, and were instituted by Black students who were among the first to break down the barriers of white schools and help to force the doors open making it possible for today’s Black students to attend White State University.
