Chief Hurt mingles with preachers

At the invitation of Theaster Maloy, Minister of The Fidelity COC and Chairman of the Church of Christ Ministers and Leaders Alliance.
Houston Police Chief Harold Hurt and his entourage visited the regular weekly preachers meeting and luncheon.

Wednesday at The Laura Koppe C O C, 6500 Laura Koppe Road, Houston, Texas, where Bro. A. J. Adams serves as Minister. The meeting was called to order by Bro. Maloy, after Singing, Scripture Reading and Prayer. A Biblical presentation was delivered by Bro. Eddie Anderson of the Scenic Woods C O C where, Bro. L. C. Parker serves as Minister.
Houston Police Chief Harold Hurt was introduced to the group to give his presentation. The chief begin with a brief biography of himself and continued with his plan to improve Police response and protection for the citizens of Houston. Then he opened the floor for questions, to his surprise and approval, hard balls were served up for him, to take a swing at.
(Question) “Why is the City laying off, lower paid city workers and replacing them with higher paid police officers, Taking them from patrolling positions to non-patrolling positions?”
(Answer) “Because they are trained officers, in case of emergency, they can be pulled off the non-patrolling jobs and placed where needed on the streets”.
(Question) “What if one of our Church members or a member of their family, have been accused of committing a heinous crime and call the Minister to aid them in safely turning themselves in, what are we to do?”

(Answer) “I am glade you ask that question. Do not try to bring them in yourselves. You should stay where you are, at the Church or wherever you are. Call my office, we will assign you to a Captain and he will instruct you want to do. Stay where you are and we will come and get you”.
The question was not asked, “If the Preacher could take the ride with the accused?” We hope that he can. After the question and answer period was over lunch was served.
