African-American News&Issues, established in 1996 and targeting
African-American, readers is one of the fastest growing and largest
African-American owned newspapers in the United States.

African-American News&Issues is the widest weekly circulated Black
newspaper in Texas with a controlled circulation distributed every
Wednesday.
The paper is delivered to more than 100,000 homes and is available at

Student Leadership Institute
Scheduled for Wiley College
Although classes don't officially begin until
Thursday, August 19, Wiley College student leaders will be back on campus
early. Wiley College student leaders report to the campus a week prior to
registration to attend the Student Leadership Institute in order to learn
their responsibilities and duties as leaders on campus for the 2004-2005
academic year. The Student Leadership Institute is scheduled for Thursday,
August 12 through Saturday, August 14.
"The Student Leadership Institute is a great primer for students who aspire
to be leaders not only in college, but also in life," said Eva Harris,
Director of Counseling and Career Planning. "The Institute is held so that
each student knows exactly what is expected and required of student leaders
at Wiley College.
The orientation sessions include topics such as parliamentary procedure,
professional etiquette, stress management and dressing for success. These
students are officers for organizations on campus such as the Student
Government Association and the various class officers. Also included in the
Institute are student resident assistants who monitor the residence halls.
Registration begins on Wednesday, August 18th, in the Freeman P. and Carrie
E. Hodge Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. with late registration continuing
