THE YOUNG BOY’S CRY

Day for day I stumble through life not knowing what to expect
All the pain, anger and guilt locked away for years I’ve kept.
Not knowing where to turn—from house to house and from post to post I’ve slept,
Wondering what new obstacle I’ll have to endure and overcome next.
I lay awake night after night remembering all the abuse- - and I’ve wept.
Although I’ve grown and matured with time,
I’m still confused and uprooted clearly I see the pains' depth.
Dear Father, please send to me somebody who cares and will understand, May they show me how to become the spearhead in the race to manhood.
One that doesn’t beat his wife, insults his kids, and induces self- hatred and self-pity I DEMAND!
Show me how to give love, honor, respect and human kindness the way a MAN should!
Take me into your arms now and console the shattered heart within me, plant new seeds into my soil and make me strong.
Although I’ve grown and matured with time,
I can now appreciate my father’s wrongs.
These scares that I have will never just up and go away,
They play upon my mind, heart and soul—I carry the torch everyday.
Today, will I be cool, calm and collective- -or will I be mean, hateful and a bully- -I never know which way I’ll sway.
Give me the strength to fight off these demons with no dismay!
My Great Grandfather had this disease and gave it my father and now the abusive crown has been fitted for me.
It’s a cycle- - the critics, professionals and experts say!
To carry on in this condition and pass it on to my sons and daughters...There is no way!
Although I’ve grown and matured with time,
I’ve found the strength to fight and stay in the race.
I often questioned the real meaning in life, Why am I here, what is my purpose, what’s the point behind all of the fears, tears, hatred, envies and strife.
I’ve heard the young boys and girls that lie awake and whale at night.
With no effort I can honestly say I know why they cry.
LORD give me the strength, power and ability to change my dysfunctional life!
