Rev. Chew Encourages Jarvis Christian College Graduates
 


 The Reverend Dr. Albert Chew encouraged students at Jarvis Christian College to continue to pursue their dreams no matter how long in may take, during the Commencement Services at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. He stated, “Don’t let obstacles stop you, they are just temporary bumps in the road. If the road get rocky along the way in life, then do the necessary things to fix the road and just keep going.” Rev. Chew, pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, gave the commencement address to the 104 Jarvis graduates and a capacity crowd, in the Anthony Robinson Varsity Gymnasium on the Hawkins, Texas campus. Rev. Chew is an active leader of the National Baptist Convention of America; he has served as First Vice Moderator, and is currently treasurer of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas.Dr. Sebetha Jenkins, president of Jarvis Christian College, presented each graduate with his or her college diploma as they crossed the stage before a cheering crowd. Top graduate, Tawana L. Sample, was recognized for graduating summa cum laude by having the highest cumulative grade point average.
Also honored were four graduates of the 50th Year Anniversary Class. They were Mattie Frost McCloria of Dayton, Ohio; Ethel Grant Rollins of Denver Colorado; Unidel Lewis Gordon of Dallas, Texas; and Irene Jackson Sandifer of Dallas.
